Basque cultural institute

The Basque Cultural Institute (BCI) gives priority to means of expression in the Basque language.

The Basque Cultural Institute, founded in 1990, is a non-profit organization (1901 Act Association) funded by the State (Ministry of Culture), the Aquitaine Regional Council, the Atlantic Pyrenees General Council and the Organisation of Municipalities for the Basque Culture.

In accordance with its articles of association, the Basque Cultural Institute gives priority to means of expression in the Basque language.

Since it was founded, the Basque Cultural Institute has provided assistance to around a hundred partner associations and their projects. The BCI also carries out its own actions in the field of heritage, the performing arts, activities and the dissemination of culture.

The BCI wishes to support the setting up of spaces for creation, artistic expression and exchange which bear witness to the means of appropriation and reinventing Basque culture by the younger generations.
