''Patchiku''The ''Patchiku'' is a 12.05 m line tuna boat built in 1959 at Ciboure's Marin Brothers shipyard. Classed as a historic monument, the vessel was laid up in 2003. It is currently being restored. Its fate touched Philippe Fautous who, having first sailed on the vessel in 1978, decided to restore it, thus enabling Basque maritime heritage and the know-how of local marine carpenters to be preserved. ![]() An association was created with the aim of saving and developing it. It created a website so that all the Patchiku's friends can see how the operation unfolds with the support of the Itsas Begia association which works to save and develop Basque maritime culture and heritage. In late March 2010 the ''Patchiku'' was taken to the Marin shipyard for a period of 2 years, a major operation which requires the support of everyone. The Basque Cultural Institute, project's partner, via its portal website and a page dedicated to the ''Patchiku'', will enable you to follow step by step the progress of work with photo reports and interviews with the project's main contributors and partners.
