BERTSULARIEN LAGUNAK

The objective of the Iparraldeko Bertsularien Lagunak Elkartea (Association of Friends of Bertsolaris) is to keep alive and encourage bertsolaritza in the three territories in Iparralde: Lapurdi, Baxenafarroa and Zuberoa. Promoting bertsolaritza also means encouraging the use and transmission of the language in itself, and demonstrating the values of the oral tradition and involving the public around its enjoyable aspects. The Iparraldeko Bertsularien Lagunak Elkartea works in co-ordination with the nation-wide Euskal Herriko Bertsozale Elkartea association with three main aims:

1. To promote and plan policies which guarantee the transmission of the oral art form at all levels using the necessary infrastructure and means and always in co-ordination with the other territories in the Basque Country.
   
2. To promote the expansion of bertsolaritza in the continental Basque Country, adapting to the needs of modern life, using the media, encouraging young bertsolaris and many other activities.
   
3. To promote research into bertsolaritza in the continental Basque Country: the collection of material both historical and contemporary material in collaboration with the Xenpelar Information Centre.
